Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

Estherville Foods located in Estherville, Iowa

This position is responsible for all facets of the boiler and refrigeration systems. Reports to the Maintenance Manager and will also work closely with the Safety Manager, Maintenance Staff, Plant Manager and outside contractors.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Cross functional and cross shift communication.
  • Operate and maintain High Pressure Boilers
  • Monitor refrigeration systems using computer and manual checks
  • Troubleshoot or replace compressors, repair and replace valves
  • Conduct boiler feed water testing
  • Perform calibrations on probes, sensors and devices
  • Conduct routine maintenance and equipment inspections according to PM program and PSM standards
  • Troubleshoot machinery and equipment
  • Respond to unplanned/emergency work requests
  • Follow food safety and good manufacturing practices
  • Cross-train staff to ensure all positions can be covered
  • Personal and Team Safety focus

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma: three to five years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industrial or food processing experience highly desired.
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience with working knowledge of Process Safety Management.
  • Basic knowledge of Preventative Maintenance programs
  • Basic knowledge of electricity & motor controls
  • Ability to troubleshoot compute control systems
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills with Microsoft products.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Walking consistently throughout 8-10 hour shift
  • Stooping, bending and crawling around and under equipment
  • Climbing ladders and other elevated platforms
  • Verbal communication with plant staff and outside contractors
